This painting encapsulates not just an image for me, but a place that comes close to perfection. The summer fog rolls over the hills of the Point Reyes peninsula, meeting the water of Tomales bay and its small coastal towns. Oyster boats and their reflections sit silently as small movements of water come up against them. A Cypress tree grove sways with a gentle breeze, small homes on the water beneath their branches. Close to the mouth of Tomales Bay, a little piece of land makes its way out of the water, Eucalyptus make there home on it and we make a name for it, Hog Island. The sun has set, giving us a cloak of pastel pinks and yellows that dance through the land and paint the water in its image.

This piece is painted in oils on a wooden panel, with old techniques used for certainty in its archival quality. It is 40” tall by 48” wide.
